Actual Boarding Time

I am booked on a cruise out of Alaska on the Diamond for July. The itinery says that we sail at 9:30pm. I am wondering by what time do we need to be on board. If we take the Princess Transfer from Anchorage, then we would be there about 2:00pm, but I am looking into doing a tour transfer that takes a couple of hours instead. That way we get to see a few things. The tour transfer would not get us there until 4 or 5. Is that ok, or do I need to be on board by a certain time. The cost is virtually the same, so if I can get more for my money, I would rather do that. Thanks for your help.

Absolutely take your time and see Alaska, no rush to get on the ship in my opinion. You can easily board the ship up to an hour before sailing. The only thing you have to worry about if you are late in Whittier is the tunnel schedule so your 5-6pm timing option would work out great. :)
