Lockers at Southampton

How early are we talking?
There are no lockers but you should be able to drop off bags with the porters quite early and go off and do things if that is the plan.
There are locations in the high street where bags can be left but I suspect their opening times won't gain you much over leaving them with the porters when taking the location (20min walk) into account.
I assume you are not staying in a hotel locally as that would be the obvious answer.

Luggage can sometimes be dropped early at the luggage hatch at the cruise terminal/s, but that does seem to vary depending on the cruise line.

Certainly you can drop luggage at any cruise terminal from about 11 - 11.30am.

Maynards News shop in Civic Centre Road & opposite the main entrance to the Civic Centre is open from 7am (8am?) and stores luggage, It's a ten minute walk from rail & coach stations (but some of that up a steep hill).

What sort of time are you expecting to arrive in Southampton?

(As Ziggy's answer, hotels will hold patrons' bags for the day)
