I see P&O state they require proof of insurance including Covid. I have insurance via my bank account which does appear to include Covid cover. I haven't been issued with a policy schedule as such and the policy wording forms part of a very large document which includes all account benefits. I have downloaded a copy and taken a screenshot of the page referencing the inclusion of Covid cover. Will that be sufficient? Do they physically check to see if you have a policy?

The question for me would be does it include cruise cover? A lot of holiday insurance provided through bank accounts doesn't.

You don't need specific cruise cover (missed ports, etc.) as long as your insurance covers you for cruising. As previously advised, try Total Travel Protection. They are single trip only.

When I did a dummy quote they were for me/us ridiculously expensive - could almost have had another cruise for what they were asking.

We used then for our cruise last month. They cover emergency evacuation and medical expenses from and on the ship to £15m. Their website says all their policies cover cruises ( I printed that bit off ). They don't pay out for missed ports are if you are late back and miss the ship. They were around a third of the price of the ' full' cruise cover policies. We are using them again in September. The bits they don't cover don't particularly bother us anyway.

Ours was £130 . Both wrinklies with medical conditions.

For you they are but for me they were more expensive for a single trip than I have for annual cover.

It just goes to show that there is no "one size fits all" travel insurance and what works for one does not work for another as we all have a different set of circumstances.

Last year I used a comparison website for medical condition. The quotes range from £400 through £1200 to your having laugh.

??? It was actually zap who recommended TTP !

Not actually recommended, I wouldn't do that for anything, just passing on information so the fellow cc members can decide. If commission is due I won't say no.🤣

Out of curiosity I thought I would also do a dummy run .

On the web page it advised me if under 70year old and wanting more cruise cover

for things like missed departures etc ,to use their sister site , so I did taking me

to Good TO Go TRAVEL INSURANCE .

With our combined medical conditions they wanted  £445 for 2 weeks holiday

or £784  annual, which worked out £40 dearer than what we pay now .

So quotes can vary on your age and medical history ,we did note  using

Total travel  and Good to go were the same web page set up apart from

the trade name .

We found that, but in all the years cruising have only missed I port. We have usedgood to go for a couple of air holidays, but not for cruises. At the end of the year we can go back to annual, but for now TTP will.do the job.

They use different underwriting companies based on each set of individuals. Total Travel and Good to Go do not provide the cover, your policy will have the insurer they select. Zap should have a different company stated that his policy is with X  Y, or Z.

My auntie's nightmare was bought through Good To Go, her policy was elsewhere. Some of the suppliers are good some very average

And there lies the problem ? You never know how good they are until you need assistance and make a claim .

Lots on review sites put "The person taking my money for insurance were brill."

I would be lovely taking money and making a sale .

Like you say the underwriter can be good or bad ,you never know until you make

a claim as I did for Mrs K , The help from word go with Staysure  was spot on,

someone to talk to ,not just via e-mails as I had with another company .

We never know until we are stuck abroad how they will/wont perform do we .

That's very true.  Sadly because the mainstream guys are so hard on those with medical conditions and age related some of those most in need of good insurance can't get it and gave little to no.options.  Those people also tend to be price driven because their quotes are so high..

Just lunched with some ladies in their 80's who are talking about this being their last cruise due to insurance costs.  They're the type the companies set up to deal with individual policies will love.

We have only ever claimed once, but as you say, you don't know if they are any good until something goes wrong.
