pcur Posted February 23 #403 Share Posted February 23 I just got off the Anthem, and the bar waiter in the Concierge Lounge modified a chocolate martini for me. I have problems ingesting the "cream" alcohols. He gave me the recipe at the end of the cruise. I call it Royel's (yes, that's his name) Chocolate Martini: 1.5 oz vanilla vodka .5 oz Creme de Cacao .5 oz Cointreau small amount of Amaretto Line inside the martini glass with chocolate syrup (I prefer small amount) Shake well and pour into martini glass

Didn't the Cointreau change the flavor profile? (I'll try to make one later lol)

PG_Cruiser Posted February 24 Author #406 Share Posted February 24 @pcur, here's a side-by-side comparison Royel's did not have the creamy mouth feel and flavor. The Cointreau added a hint of its orange-y flavor, which was good. The mix did not get foamy when shaken.

My introduction to chocolate martinis years ago was with no Baileys. One of the best I've had was made with chocolate vodka. By the way, Royel's is made with vanilla vodka, not house vodka. Rare Thisguylikestocruise Posted February 25 #408 Share Posted February 25 I was surprised how much I like the peanut butter tropic at the schooner bar. Looking at the ingredients, peanut butter and pineapple seem strange together. It became my favorite drink and my wife’s also. We’d like to recreate it at home, never used bitters before. Are the bitters really necessary?

Are the bitters really necessary? If you really want to get what the drink tasted like on the ship, then you need to put the bitters. Bitters add their unique flavors to cocktails. PG_Cruiser Posted February 28 Author #414 Share Posted February 28 VIKING'S CROWN 1400 Lobby Bar Icon of the Seas From the sketch on the menu, it looks like the garnish should be a pineapple ring, resembling a "crown." At 1400 Lobby Bar, they serve it with a pineapple wedge.

Do you think Baileys will do? When we make those we use Blue Chair Bay (Kenny Chesney's rum brand) Spiced Rum Cream in place of the Rumchata, I think it tastes much better 🙂 Edited February 29 by TheInnocentAge
