My DW and I are taking 4 grandkids on the 4 day Carnival Breeze cruise leaving Thursday, 6-29.  According to the comments I have been reading the last few months we will experience the following:

1.  Marijuana smell everywhere on board.

2.  Kids running wild and being unruly.

3.  Drunks

4.  Fighting

5.  Inedible food in the MDR

6.  Security just watching and not doing anything

7.  Bad service from crew

I took my daughter and granddaughter on the Breeze on a 4 day cruise (6/1 - 6/5) and we experienced #2, 5 and 7. Bad service in the MDR and some, not all choices of inedible food. This was the first time in my 20 cruises that I experienced bad attitude and service in the MDR for dinner.  My steward was nonexistent, the beds were not made into twin beds even though we requested it when we booked the cruise and called and asked our steward to make them into a king size bed which he never did (we managed though).  Also had to call him a few times for room cleaning. We loved the house band each night in the Ocean Plaza, comedy club, CD and shows. I did see security around the Lido pool and they were telling kids to stop running and horseplaying. Embarkation and debarkation was very organized and we were off the ship and in our car by 8:30. We still had a great time and I was prepared for #2 as we were on a shorter cruise and school was out. Enjoy yourself and make wonderful memories with your grandkids.

Thanks.  I will report back after the cruise what I see.  Normally, I don't see any of the things on my list.  I am mostly in the casino and don't hang out on Lido.  This cruise will be different as it will be about the kids.  My Grands are 8-13 years old, however, I don't like the idea of them being on their own, so my DW and I will be hanging out with them.

It is very possible to experience all 7 of those and maybe more. If you can cut it down to maybe 3 or less, you'll be fine.

Those four day Breeze cruises are so expensive I don't see how the party crowd could afford them. If I wanted to book one of those this summer it would cost me $325-415 per day for an interior room. It's not going to Hawaii or anything. It's just Cozumel.

Yes! Believe it all... these cruises are just like Escape from New York.. at sea.

Although, I can't say we saw any drunken, pot-smoking kids fighting while thumbing their noses at security before returning their MDR dishes and pulling their grats.

True but a very good offer popped up in my email offering an inside room for around $400 plus tax and port fees in my email and since my daughter is a school teacher and limited when she can cruise I had to go for it. I usually don’t like to take 4 day cruise’s but this was the best choice price wise and time wise for us. I don’t think I would do it again but we made the best of it.

You have to lower your expectations. When Carnival lists features that is just a list of possible features not all of which are available on all cruises.

It would be more appropriate to split that one list in to two lists with some in column A and some in column B. It is kind of like ordering Chinese food. You get some from column A and some from column B though with Carnival you don't get to pick; they pick for you. The longer the cruise the fewer picks you get from each column. But you always get the food feature - it is kind of like white rice when you order Chinese; automatic.

My wife and I got a free casino offer.  Only way we could afford to take the kids.

Yeah, you might get some but will it effect your cruise?

Weed smell, while annoying, does not ruin my cruise.

Same with MDR. I am no foodie but I am sure you're grandkids will find something to eat.

You check out the other forums (NCL, RCCL) and you will see people that are annoyed with those brands as well.

If you got a good price, then roll with it.

Normally, we do not cruise during the summer or when kids are out of school.  This cruise reinforced our thoughts.  I didn't get the total count for the passengers but I felt the cruise was at capacity.  There were lots of children and teenagers on board.  I also noticed that most of the passengers were red and blue cards.  Guys always had a long line. This was the first cruise that I didn't get a Guys burger.

I did not smell any Marijuana on board.  We did walk past a drug dog during boarding.  I didn't witness any fighting or bad behavior from anyone.  The most I saw was teenagers running up the stairs.  Service was good from the crew and the food in the MDR was good.

Overall, the cruise was great.

Disembarking was a nightmare though.  I would estimate that 80% of the passengers carried off their own luggage and didn't follow the instructions.  The line was an hour long when they had only called 2 muster stations A3 and A4.  I will stick to 7 day cruises from now on.

Certainly agree about the shorter cruise party reputation and have experienced/witnessed all of them except 4 & 7.

I'm concerned about what I might expect on upcoming 13 day Venezia given the very recent reports.

So it was a different kind of party cruise.

That about sums up my cruise.  Cruising the grand kids was fun, but I missed out on all of the activities that I normally do on a cruise.  I did gamble but only a couple of hours on 2 of the days.  My DW didn't gamble at all.  Looking forward to my October Vista cruise without kids.
