What time is departure from Roatan

Recommended Posts

Hi, we are sailing on the Allure of the Seas, and we are going to be in Roatan on 12 July. We are trying to figure out what time we need to be back on board the ship on the 12th. The port logs have the ship leaving at five but is that local time or ship time?  we are considering doing an afternoon excursion. but are wondering about the timing.

Port schedules will always be local time.  But if you get back too late because your watch synced to local time the next port is often Cozumel, so you have a chance to catch up to the ship.

All aboard is almost always 30 minutes before ship time departure.

The ship stays on Houston time. All aboard this week is 5:30 ships time.

There are reports on CC of ships SOMETIMES staying on departure time, and SOMETIMES going to local time.

Port Schedules (put out by the port) will be local time.  My advice, is simply ask the excursion folks.  They're going to know what time you need to be back to the ship.

It's ALWAYS ship time.

Port will always report local.  And different ships in the port may have different ship times, especially in Coz, Roatan and Costa Maya.  We have seen as much as a 2 hour difference (on Allure).

Costa Maya is the best location for pier runners.

You must stay on ship time.  I understand local is different.  OP wanted to know what time to use.

What ever time is shown on your itinerary from Royal and on the app for your cruise is THE Time.  Don't look up port websites for schedules to rely on timing.  And if using a local vendor, make sure they understand the correct time you need to be back.  Never change your watch to local time.  Always keep on ship time.  And typically, all Aboard is 30 minutes prior to departure time. So, for example a 5 o'clock departure, means All Aboard is 4:30.  Do pay attention to the app and the Cruise Compass on the day you are in port as All Aboard and Departure times may change.
