gammers Posted June 29, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2023 Does anyone have any inspiration/inspiration for excursions or tours for our afternoon stop in Marseille? We want to get OUT of the city to enjoy the countryside but the Seashore doesn’t dock until 1:00. Any help would be appreciated!

RBrowny Posted June 29, 2023 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2023 (edited) https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/forum/462-france-ports/ I think this will be moved to this forum, however we went on the land train to the Notre Dam and it was brilliant. Then walked around the harbour and went to one of the basilicas/churches. Edited June 29, 2023 by RBrowny
Rare CruiseIreland Posted June 29, 2023 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2023 We crossed the street outside the port gates, crossed the square to the metro and took the train to the train/bus station. Bought a ticket for the coach to Aix-en-Provence en Provence. Lovely town. Worth the trip. Marseille is nice too but we had done it previously. Heartgrove Posted June 29, 2023 #5 Share Posted June 29, 2023 With only six hours (more like 4-1/2 to 5 with clearance and back on board time) I would look at a ship excursion. Depending on which pier you dock at it there could be a 20 minute walk to the gate. The port's free shuttle bus is notoriously slow.
sealynx Posted June 30, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 30, 2023 Sorry, I have no such tip for Marseille, but if your cruise goes via Genua and you would like to visit the countryside/nature there I do have a great suggestion, just let me know.
