meast1984 Posted July 3, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2023 After an excellent cruise on the Iona we are looking at a repeat next year on a cruise on the Brittania. Our child will be 2 next year and will probably be too big for the travel cot we used on the Iona. From what I can see the standard balcony cabins on the Brittania do not have sofa beds and have Pullman beds which would not be suitable for our child due to the height they are fixed at. I'm presuming that unless there is an alternative to this in the cabin that the only option is to upgrade to the deluxe balcony cabin which has the sofa bed? molecrochip Posted July 3, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 3, 2023 (edited) There may be the odd exception. Iona/Arvia is better in this regard as most balcony cabins have sofa which converts to a bed. Edited July 3, 2023 by molecrochip
Snibs Posted July 3, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2023 I think that if the Pullman bed is used then the normal beds have to be twin configuration and not as a double so perhaps an adult uses the Pullman bed
Thejuggler Posted July 3, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2023 Either take an inflatable toddler bed, or an adult sleeps on the pullman. We have had double bed and pullman berth, they prefer singles due to ladder access, but you can use the ladder on the end of the pullman on some ships. July morning Posted July 3, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2023 We were on Britannia in October and had a standard balcony cabin, it had a small sofa bed which was made up every evening when we went for dinner.
meast1984 Posted July 5, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted July 5, 2023 Looks like an upgrade to a deluxe balcony then! Shame the ship doesn't have the same layout as the Iona's balcony cabins - the sofa bed was a better alternative
purplesea Posted July 5, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 5, 2023 Some standard cabins (G grade cabins, if I remember correctly) have sofa beds as we had one when my daughter travelled with us. Although when made up we couldn't get to the balcony unless we climbed over it!
Rare DamianG Posted July 6, 2023 #8 Share Posted July 6, 2023 As above we've had G616 (standard balcony cabin complete with sofa bed) on Britannia previously.
