Newbie question re: casino play on Princess

We will be taking our 2nd cruise in April and I’d like to try the casino out but on our first cruise I found the casino a bit intimidating. I wasn’t sure how it worked with the medallion too.  Any tips? (I am not a big better but play for enjoyment)

The basic:

1. Beep the medalian to the machine reader

2. Put in your pin (mmyy of your birthday - you can change it later)

3. First time - charge the amount you want to play into your room, or insert cash

4. If you charge your room, it might ask for your pin again

5. Press cash out when you are done playing this machine, the money will go into your casino account.

When you go to another machine, follow step 1 and 2, then you have the choice to pull money from your casino account or charge it to the room.

IMPORTANT:

On last night of sailing or when you have enough of getting fleeced 😅, go to the cashier and tell them you want to cash out. They will give you whatever money you have left in your casino account.

Last: Princess does not charge fee for charging your gambling money to your room account.

Make sure when you cash out of your machine, do not get up and leave until you get the message on the screen that your money has been posted to your account.   You need to keep track of your money in your account.  If you start off with a $100, play $20, cash out, make sure that you have $80 in your account when you leave that machine.

We have had several times where it did not go back to the account and was still sitting on that machine.

Yikes,  Good info to have!  I’m guessing you can see your account either on the machine or does it show on the app?    If we have on board credit, do you know if it is easy to apply that to what we use in the casino?  Thank you!

when you charge the amount you want to play on your machine, it goes against your cabin account, and yes your OBC will be used to pay it.

ie:  You have OBC of $200, you go to the casino and ask for $200 to play on the machine.  Your cabin account will show zero owed.

The little screen where you have to sign in everytime you play on a machine will show your account balance.  This screen is also where your points are shown and where you charge more money on your cabin account if you need more money - which is 100% of the time.

Thank you so much! This has been very helpful. Not quite like playing Vegas but it will do. 😊

the hard part is keeping track of what you are closing out on your machine.

land casinos you get a piece of paper that you feed into the next machine

on the ships you go to a new machine and pull up your account and take out what funds you want to play on that machine.  Know what you have

You go to cashier, ask to buy some chips, "beep" your medalion - etc.

The biggest problem I find on table playing is the way they keep track of your points. Of course you also have better odd of winning something vs slot.

RoxieVegas is correct too. I think cruising is the only place where you can gamble using your credit card line since everything is charged to your room. You have to be careful with your budget if you don't want to end up with a shock at the end of the cruise.
