getting from cruise port in Avonmouth england to Bristol

coming on a cruise that stops in Bristol England with the port actually being in Avonmouth.  How do we get from the cruise port to Bristol?

Well that’s a new one on me - I never even knew cruises called there!

 

The port is in a very industrial area - there is literally nothing nearby. So you’ll either need a taxi or you’ll have to rely on whatever shuttle option the cruise line lays on (and I’m pretty certain they’ll lay on something even if they don’t tell you about it until you’re on board).

there is a GWR train station in Avonmounth which does run in to Bristol but it does not look like the most convenient or useful route.  It stops at Temple Meads and it is a short walk to the ferry boats that run down the waterway to the heart of the city.  Like gumshoe said, however, the harbor area is not very user friendly from the dock area

Avonmouth station is on the other side of the river from the port, and there’s no crossing.

Get a taxi/ uber. It will take you under the Clifton suspension bridge and can drop you by the Riverside near to the city centre. There's lots of bars there and the SS great Britain Can't see it costing more than £15-20 it's a straight drive down one road
