MHF Posted July 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2023 My bank does not offer Egyptian Pounds. I have a 9 hour tour which requires a tip at the end: would Euros be acceptable and exchangeable for the guide? There is no way to get to a local ATM as we dock at 6 and the tour is at 630 a.m. via bus to St. Catherine's Monastery. I will check my airport upon leaving but looking for a back-up plan. Thanks! Missy in Maryland For tips - and for purchases from street vendors - euros or GBP or USD will be fine in Egypt, tour guides etc are used to them. If a kid asks you to change-up Euro coins for bills, do oblige - banks etc of course don't change foreign coin JB 🙂 Edited July 23, 2023 by John Bull
ldock Posted July 27, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2023 Egypt accepts US dollars and Euros pretty much everywhere. In fact hotels are not permitted to accept Egyptian pounds from tourists. No problem tipping in Euros.
