Hello James

Thank you for taking my question.

I have not cruised with Atlas, but I want to surprise my parents for their 53rd anniversary.   My question is , my father has a walker, and I would like him to enjoy the sites of the Mediterranean.  my question is how many excursions are, truly, accommodating the Mobily challenged? (I would imagine cobblestone streets, and such might be difficult for Dad, but he is very much a walker even with his walker?)      I would hate for him to be singled or denied access.

On another note entirely,

To my second point; is onboard little gifts like  say if I sent my parents a bottle  of Champagne, or other special surprise can they make a big show of it, (love the big show  idea.  I'm from Hollywood.)    I would want to make their  53rd Anniversary as special as possible.

I have studied your brochure endlessly, digitally.  Is there a way to get a hard copy?

Thank you, James, for participating in this forum and I'm excited to hear your thoughts.  I have absolutely fallen in love with your cruises and am such a fan!

Fondly Jaimee Allen

Having cruised with AOV in the Mediterranean, I can tell you that “making a big show” will not be a problem at all; they’re very good at that.!

The problem your parents might encounter though is that despite the small size of the ship, there are a surprising number of tendering ports in the Mediterranean. The staff are very helpful getting everyone on and off the tenders, but the stairs down to the tendering platform are steep and the part of the step that you actually step on is fairly narrow.

Also the gangway that was used for the majority of our non-tendering ports has slightly curved steps with unstable handrails. Staff helped my friend down and up, she uses a cane and is a bit wobbly; but it might be a serious challenge for a person who needs a walker to get from here to there

Jaimee28Spencer,

Onboard, our ships are wheelchair accessible.  Because of the unique ports we visit and the nature of our Expedition program, we utilize various entrances to our vessels which in some cases necessitates a certain level of self-mobility. Companies who provide gangways and stairs for marine vessels continue to innovate and improve their systems, and we will certainly source these products with our guest’s mobility in mind.  For the shore excursions, I encourage you to reach out through your Travel Advisor, who will in turn reach out to our Voyage Specialists to research the options that may be able available on our planned excursions.  In some cases, a private tour arrangement through our tour provider may be required if the original excursion is not ideal for a guest with limited mobility. Each tour is unique, and we would have to look at each on a case-by-case basis, and our team is willing and able to look into these details and will be able to communicate what is possible or not.

James
