But on many ships, the balcony cabins are on the higher decks so you can't do both lower deck and balcony. If you have to choose, I think lower is more important.

QM2 has fairly low balcony (sheltered) cabins.  The fact remains: if seasickness is a serious concern, the best “cabin” is likely to be in your home.

My 9-year-old granddaughter suffers from motion sickness and gets sick on almost every car trip or flight., My daughter recently got her some special glasses to wear when riding in the car that use liquid between the lenses to simulate the horizon. She did not get sick on the car trip to or the trip from our home (Charlotte) and theirs (Altanta)
