Carnival Au OBC and casino

Recommended Posts

Are you able to offset gambling charges with OBC on Carnival cruises based out of Australia like you can with the US cruises?

Also, will the casino exchange AUS to USD if cashing out? I’ll be flying out day of debarkation back to US and don’t know where to exchange my money back to USD for a fair rate.

The currency on board is AUD, so I think  that's what you will get if you cash out.  The ATMs on the ship dispense AUD.

There is a currency exchange at Wharf 6 at Circular Quay, a two minute walk from the OPT. If you are catching the train to the airport, you will walk right past it. There will also be currency exchange at the airport.

I was under the impression you couldn't use OBC to offset casino, bingo, and medical expenses, but someone may come in here and make a liar out of me.

Yeah that’s what I have experienced on US Carnival cruises but was unsure if it was the same on Carnival Australian cruises. After I found out you can’t use Carnival gift cards on Australian cruises (at least I think this is true), I thought maybe there would be other differences.

Yes, you can use your OBC in the casino. Where they are being strict now is preventing you from taking non-refundable OBC and turning it into cash in the casino with none or little game play.

The ship currency on Splendor is $AU. I doubt they will have $US in the casino, but they may have some for conversion at customer services. I believe the crew are still paid in $US, so they may have some currency aboard. As mentioned, the Shylock conversion at the ferry wharf is an easy option off the ship. Not fantastic conversion rates, but neither is the ship.
