Pull-down Bed

Can anyone help? We have some friends who have booked their first cruise for next year. They have booked a balcony cabin on F deck with a sofa bed and pull-down bed for just the two of them, they were advised by their TA that it wasn’t a problem as obviously the pull-down bed wouldn’t needed to be deployed, but they are worried about it rattling as they are both light sleepers. Hopefully someone who has been in this situation can help to put their mind at rest.

The beds don’t rattle, but ships in general often do. There is a lot to rattle in a cabin (glasses/cups, coat hangers, toiletries etc), balcony furniture, balcony partitions etc. Cabins in ships aren’t particularly quiet.

If your friends are naturally light sleepers they may want to take some good silicone ear plugs.

If they are light sleepers they do need ear plugs as there are 1001 other things generating noise which may disturb them.

Other passengers, banging doors, general engine vibrations, side thrusters, capstans noise when pulling chains and ropes, crew calling each other etc etc especially when preparing docking which can happen from v early in a morning.

So, it seems there's no noise from these but do get in the way or spoil the general looks of the cabin? The 2 of us are on a Saver fare and have been allocated a room with 2 of them, surprisingly!

They are “hidden” in the ceiling: not like on the older ships where they were folded up against the wall like a 1970s caravan - banging your head on them every time you got up to go to the loo in the night 😂

That's reassuring. Many thanks.
