  1. On the subject of drinking in the cabin or on balcony, we never have, much prefer to socialise with others when having a drink and enjoy the company of our fellow cruisers, after all we are on holiday and that is what we like doing meeting new people.
  2. Agree not AI in 2006 and 2007 when we went with Thomson.
  3. Yea why do they do that. I have pinned someone to the far wall with my wife's wheelchair just go to one side, unbelievable !
  4. all disabled will have to wear hi-vis and hard hats etc soon elf an safety lol🙃 it will make you feel like someone important on the ship (like a politician)
  5. for normal seafarers maybe, but for cruisers they would expect travel insurance and would try to claim it I think.🤔
  6. not sure never done it
  7. afraid not you only get discount when OBC is used up
  8. When you check in online usually about 3 weeks before
  9. No it was a manual fold-up and we were staying in a standard cabin. Never had to before on all our previous with P&O
  10. When we went on board Iona in feb at the accessibility checkin they put a yellow/orange label on my wife's wheelchair stating that it had been checked or something by P&O to use onboard and said to us it should be kept attached to the wheelchair at all times. I suppose that was to be sure on one was sneaking them on.
  11. Our flight in march 2025 to Barbados it confirmed as TUI
  12. I think the same as you, but what if new rules "heath and safety" say you can have only so many on each deck to use them. I dont know just putting it out there.
  13. The original poster was talking about standard cabins, so was I. so i agree with you but what about all the standard cabin users who may use a wheelchair and not handle stairs?
  14. Just a quick add to the conversation with P&O she did say I need to check if a evacuation chair is available because will need one she checked then said thats OK for us. so that may be the change in the laws that only a certain number are available for each ship.
  15. hi yes I agree with the other posters on here accessible cabins are for those who need a wheelchair to move around the cabin. I have just re-booked this week for 2025 after our Iona cruise has been cancelled due a refit. I told the P&0 lady we are bringing a wheel chair for my wife and she asked if we need an accessible cabin I said no a standard cabin would be fine. she ask all the questions does your wheelchair fold up Yes. does she need it to move around the the cabin so I said no she only needs it to walk longer distances. so Ok then we can book a standard cabin. no mention of any new laws.
  16. only if you get the deluxe package can you get a double shot
  17. Oh just remembered that was also about 20 P&O check in desks in that security building. so if you do a fly cruise you must go in there. We were on an ordinary cruise out of Southampton so it was not manned but maybe it is when fly cruise, it all looked new.
  18. We docked on the port side across from us was an other ship an AIDA one I remember over by the ferries. so may be not always. yes the terminal is new as Kalos says there shop spaces but none yet filled. the duty free is in the other security entrance building for the port side ship.
  19. If i remember correctly there is a duty free in the port building to you right after you go through security. Was only there last month.
  20. We were on Iona a week ago. Lava stone Steak was definitely on the Menu.
  21. My wife is a part time (fold up) wheelchair user, being that she has difficulty in walking on her own. We often use standard cabins, but as the doors tend to close on their own we take a door wedge to keep the door open while I steady her to get into the cabin rather than tying to keep it open with my foot. much easier 😀
  22. HI just returned from two weeks in Canaries on Iona was hearing quite a few pax had sickness/tummy bug on board. lucky we never had it. So anyone joining today remember to wash your hands frequently.
  23. when we had doors on the left as looking from corridor bed was next to wardrobes sofa at the balcony end both times as I remember. (different cabins)
  24. just turn up in the club house or where ever and show passports for your cabin not everyone needs to turn up just one person from each cabin with the passports from those in the cabin . that is it.
