Rare CruisinShips Posted August 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2023 Mistake? Too risky? ABC islands seem to be somewhat below "normal" hurricane tracks...but two sea days in each direction to and from Ft. Lauderdale concerns me. Do any of you hurricane forum posters have an opinion on this? Thanks

Do any of you hurricane forum posters have an opinion on this? Thanks It's a risk. Any cruise anywhere in the Caribbean is a risk. Visiting ONLY the ABC Islands will help. Sailing to/from Ft. Lauderdale won't help. It's overwhelmingly likely that your cruise will go off without a hitch, but there's a chance it won't. You pay your money and take your chances. Good luck with whatever you decide. 🙏
smokeybandit Posted August 17, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2023 The risk of having a cruise impacted by a storm is extremely small. You may lose ports or change ports last minute, but having a cruise canceled or shortened is a tiny risk.

We have cruised from Fort Lauderdale to the ABCs twice during hurricane season without any issues. Once was in September, the other in October, and we are going there a third time in September 2024.
