mvh Posted August 28, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2023 Has anyone been successful (from past experience only) getting two rooms upgraded with joint bookings? We are both looking to upgrade from a balcony to YC with the exact same bid. We don't want to be split up, so is this worth the risk? Do they take into consideration we have a joint booking? mmbcater Posted August 28, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2023 The bid should state the cabin number, that is the only cabin you are bidding on.... If you successfully win that bid the other cabin may not use/visit any of the YC amenities.

No they don't take that into account. It's all about revenue!!! Did you both pay the same for your balcony? If no. Higher paying cabin will get it first. Did you both bid max? If no, many others may be ahead of you. If yes and both paid same for balcony, then first one who bid will get before the other. So don't take the risk

It only states the category, not the cabin number as there might not even be any available today.

What I am stating is they have two cabins and only one got a upgrade offer-that is what they are bidding for-the other cabin will not automatically get the upgrade if they are successful on their bid.......... xcell Posted August 29, 2023 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2023 Is it possible? Anything is --- I think this question was asked before and even though it seemed impossible, they both got upgraded. So long as your friendship is strong and once one of you gets into the YC, you don't see the other for a week other than in passing when the butler escorts you off the ship faster, to your seat when the room is full, etc.. go for it....

Rare JamieLogical Posted August 29, 2023 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2023 The company that handles the bidding process is a 3rd party company. I don't think they even have the data that your reservations are linked. Each cabin is on its own for bidding and bid acceptance. There is certainly no guarantee that if one of you gets upgraded, the other will as well.
Rare Morgsmom Posted August 29, 2023 #9 Share Posted August 29, 2023 Much too risky a proposition. If you both want YC and there are cabins available then you should pay to move; otherwise no saying what will happen.

Yes, one need to understand that it is an algorithm is handling this upgrade thing, no humans are involved and MSC is also not involved. It´s a product from Plusgrade, any questions what their algorithms are doing cannot be answered correctly by anyone, I guess including the Plusgrade CEO 😄
