Carnival - Tenders in Mediterranean - how do they issue tickets

Haven't sailed Carnival since 2015 and have only been to the Mediterranean once but that was on RC.  Can someone explain how the distribution of tender tickets works on Carnival since FTTF (which I usually buy) is not available for Mediterranean sailings?  On Royal, you had to go down to get in line about 2 hours prior to port arrival time and get your tender ticket. Wasn't sure if it was similar on Carnival? Have heard stories about taking hours to get off the ship in Santorini and really don't want to purchase a ship excursion unless I have to.  Thanks in advance.

Maybe try cross posting this on the Carnival Forum as it is Carnival specific, and more pax who have tendered in the Med are likely to see it and respond.

@erby2283 you specify Santorini and I think the consensus on this Greek Board is try to book a ship's excursion to expedite your way to Oia and Fira.  I didn't want to put out the money either but finding out how long passengers were waiting to ride the cable car (2 hours) I decided to bite the bullet.  I'm on Carnival Pride this Oct 18.  When is your cruise?

@ninjacat123 Not until Sept 2024 but I'm a bit of a planner.  lol    I really am not liking any of our excursions - maybe they'll add some.

I am booking many of my excursions through TripAdvisor and I booked over a year out.  What ports are you visiting?

Yay!! Exact itinerary as mine!  Since I am not supposed to advise you until I have taken an excursion, I will write back after Oct 29, 2023.  I'm writing it in my calendar.  I am also thinking of writing a review so I will post a link as well.👍
