shot2bits Posted September 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2023 I’m sure this will have been asked before somewhere: going to the Canaries and Cadiz, will we be paying extra for drinks when in port or Spanish waters? We don’t have a drinks package.

That being said I am mainland Spain, Barca and Valencia etc. Edited September 11, 2023 by Sheep Flavour
HalifaxYorksCruiser Posted September 11, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2023 We paid 10% tax on drinks whilst docked in port ( Cadiz, Cartagena , Ibiza and Mallorca ) 18/08/23- 01/09/23)
9265359 Posted September 11, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 11, 2023 Yes you will pay the 10% IVA whilst in mainland Spain's waters, so whilst docked and shortly before and after leaving, but you won't in the Canaries as they have IGIC not IVA and IGIC doesn't apply to cruise ships. Rare alserrod Posted September 14, 2023 #10 Share Posted September 14, 2023 You shouldn't pay more. As an example, Spain, France and Italy doesn't have the same VAT and people do not notice it when being on board and calling in different ports. Be awared that, being in Canary islands, you can buy some goods with less taxes (maybe alcohol and tobacco is where it worths the most) but carrying them into mainland (without declaring) over a quantity is smuggling.
