CheckersMidwest Posted September 12, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2023 Booking Bernard's tours.....it stresses booking island time and not ship time. If Carnival says we dock at 8:00 am ship time......what time is it in St Maarten?!

If Carnival says we dock at 8:00 am ship time......what time is it in St Maarten?! Ships time is usually the time of its home port, or where you originally depart from. It's at the Captains discretion if the ship is kept on ships time or adopts the new time zone. A lot of Caribbean cruise stay on ships time which is Eastern Time Zone even when going into the Atlantic Time Zone which is where St Martin is located. Other cruises, like a crossing on the QM2, ships time changes an hour each day to account for the time zone changes. I would just assume that in your case ships time will be Eastern whereas St Martin will be one hour ahead on Atlantic Time.

CheckersMidwest Posted September 12, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted September 12, 2023 Oh, I am aware of the differences in ship time & local - this is our 11th cruise. Their website says to book local time, so was trying to figure out what local time would be.... I contacted them and they said their time and ship time would be the same when we visit in October.
