jimvern1966 Posted March 18, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 18, 2006 If you are flying into the port, it cannot go in checked bags or in carry-ons. Buy it before you board. Flamable liquids are not allowed on aircrafts. Thats why they are taking lighters away at the airports (TSA).

Rare Host Kat Posted March 18, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 18, 2006 Lighters are not allowed onboard aircraft, period. Either in carry on or checked baggage. Sorry. Well.... sort of... Don't know about the rest of the airlines, but here is part of what Continental has to say on their website: http://www.continental.com/travel/policies/baggage/dangerous.asp?SID=4104982A17AB483CA5B278BB2D12EDC7 Lighters Added As Prohibited Items The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) prohibits the carriage of all lighters past the security checkpoints at airports. Please be aware that any type of lighter on your person or in accessible carry on luggage is subject to confiscation during security screening. Currently, passengers may carry up to four books of strike-on-cover matches on their person or in carry on luggage.Lighters without fuel are permitted in checked baggage, but lighters with fuel are prohibited. For a complete list of Prohibited Items, please visit the Transportation Security Administration Web site. Kat

Well... okay then... All I could find on the Celebrity website was their smoking policy. http://www.celebritycruises.com/beforeyourcruise/faq/home.do;jsessionid=0000Dt_0B3cJM7JdVgVmDdx_3Yp:1051tg3ld;jsessionid=0000ijGyazlY54MpCToQkYzQlXl:1051tg60i?faqSubjectName=Ship+and+Stateroom+Details&faqId=572&pagename=faq_answers Nothing useful came up with "lighters", "matches" or "open flames" as key words in their Search feature. Sorry I couldn't help more! Kat
frchteaze Posted March 19, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 19, 2006 Lighters are not allowed onboard aircraft, period. Either in carry on or checked baggage. Sorry. Actually, not only are never-before used Zippos allowed in checked luggage, you can also take used & filled Zippos in checked luggage if they are in a TSA approved case. http://www.zippo.com/lighterBan.html

The answer is...YES...you may use a lighter on board. I always do...guess everyone read to much into your question. If you could'nt use a lighter on board they would'nt have ash trays.
jessemon Posted March 19, 2006 #10 Share Posted March 19, 2006 After thinking a bit...I think they are referring to open flames in such things as candles or uncontrolled flames. Just a thought.;)
