sqwertbird Posted October 3, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2023 This is the first time I booked the special dining package as a free-at-sea. I am sailing solo but notice reservations are always a minimum of two, and for some of the only day at sea, the minimum seems to be four. Is there a penalty for me booking a larger table as a solo cruiser?

You should book those reservations first to avoid charges. And ensure that you release any extra seats once you are onboard. You definitely don't want to book a 8-top for yourself because you are tying up a very limited resource.
sqwertbird Posted October 3, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted October 3, 2023 Thanks for the info! I'll probably avoid anything more than a 4 seater.
MamaToMany Posted October 3, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2023 I’ve always had good luck booking for 2 and then changing the number of guests once onboard. It should just take a quick stop at the restaurant reservations desk and they will have you all sorted out!
hallux Posted October 3, 2023 #5 Share Posted October 3, 2023 Other than Teppanyaki it makes literally ZERO difference to change a 2-top reservation for a solo. You're getting exactly the same table when you get seated. The same is the case for any odd-numbered parties - book the next-higher number to get the size table you need. Ellis1138 Posted October 4, 2023 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2023 U booked a table for 2 and then just updated it to be 1 when I got on board. Very easy.
Pookie2u Posted October 4, 2023 #7 Share Posted October 4, 2023 or invite another solo to use their freebie dinner with you. It's nice to have options 🙂
Rare www3traveler Posted October 4, 2023 #8 Share Posted October 4, 2023 As a solo passenger I very rarely make reservations (Ocean Blue is the exception). I show up a few minutes before the restaurant opens and can usually be seated at a table for 2 within a very few minutes.

Very easy. and, as I said, there is ZERO reason to stress about adjusting the reservation to 1. The table size is the same - just book for two (except at Teppanyaki) and enjoy your vacation, just show up by yourself when it's time for dinner...
