Day trip ideas for a family with a toddler.

Our cruise ends in Fort Lauderdale and we depart at 6 PM out of Miami. Any tour ideas or suggestions on how to kill time and end up at the Miami airport in time for our flight?  We are on Royal Caribbean and they offer a all day hop on hop off tour that ends in Miami and the times are perfect. We just aren’t enthused about a hop on hop off tour but not seeing any other options.

We are traveling with a well-behaved three-year-old so we would need a car seat, which complicates things.

Suggestions?

Rent a vehicle from FLL for the minimum twenty four hour time period and then find something that interests you. I would either spend a few hours on Fort Lauderdale Beach, Hollywood Beach or drive down to South Beach in Miami Beach. Have a nice lunch and kill a few hours at one of the three locations. Return the rental vehicle at the Miami International Airport Car Rental Center and take the short walk over to MIA or you can use the shuttle bus located on the top floor of the Rental Car Center to get you over to the airport. A lot better than a hop on hop off bus trip..

What will you do with your luggage without a vehicle?

If you want to be in Miami, there is Bayfront Park and Bayside Marketplace.

I was hoping for a tour of some type that would accommodate luggage and ultimately deliver us to the airport.    As I said earlier, the cruise offers it, just not excited about a hop on hop off in fort Lauderdale.

It is looking like that may be our best option.

we are traveling with a well behaved 12, 75 and 73 yo, and also have a 6 pm flight. We are not taking any chances.... Getting off the ship around 9,leisurely getting an uber/shuttle, having a leisurely lunch at the airport, finally drop off luggage, sit and read... board the plane.

we've done this many times.

Also, having no car seat limits your options.
