Cruisin'4Us Posted November 3, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 3, 2023 If a passenger has a Refreshment Package and wishes to purchase an alcoholic drink that would normally cost $14 (without any drink package), will they be charged $14, or some other incremental amount? For example - if the only difference between a virgin frozen drink and an alcoholic frozen drink is the alcohol, and the virgin drink is included under the Refreshment Package, is the passenger charged the full price for the drink with the alcohol? Thanks in advance!
smokeybandit Posted November 3, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 3, 2023 You would order the virgin drink with your package, then pay for a shot of alcohol. Two separate transactions.
cruiseguy1016 Posted November 3, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 3, 2023 You will pay the full price for the alcoholic drink. There is no discount for having the package.

Two separate transactions. Good thought. To try and figure out which drink package is best for us, what is the approximate price for the typical shot (rum, gin, tequila, Canadian whisky) that a bartender would use in mixed or frozen drinks? sunluva Posted November 4, 2023 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2023 We were on Grandeur in September. My sister had Refreshment Pkg. She wanted 1 alcohol drink. She was told $14. You pay full price. It was one transaction.

You're better off just buying the full drink.
Mum2Mercury Posted November 5, 2023 #9 Share Posted November 5, 2023 Why not get the "free" non-alcoholic drink ... then pay for a shot and stir it into that drink?

Depending on the bartender they may or may not mix it in for you.

Because you'd only be saving a dollar or two, if that, and it might not taste as good.

Most times, the mixed drink costs the same as just the shot. You might as well just have the bartender mix it for you.

For most drinks (there might be an exception for frozen drinks since I don’t drink them) the cost is the same for a shot or a drink. For example, a shot of bourbon is the same price as a bourbon and Coke. This also applies to whiskey, vodka, tequila and gin. Additionally, the charge for a glass of champagne is the same as a mimosa, although depending on the bartender you might get a bigger mimosa if you just buy a glass of champagne and order orange juice separately.
