Best Norwegian areas for fjords, please.....

Thank you.  I appreciate your thoughts on your cruise, and will take a look at the review you linked to.

 

We have friends that recently returned from a land trip through Japan that they arranged with the help of a private tour company, but that they traversed on-their-own.   They took their high school aged grandson.  They say the tour was wonderful!  Their enthusiasm sparked our own interest in Japan.  However, DH and I feel that at our age (and with DH's health issues) a cruise to see Japan would be best for us.   

 

I have also read Mike Preisman's 2015 review where his cruise touched on Tokyo, and am in the process of reading his latest land trip to Japan.  However, his trip only seems to touch on one port that HAL's 14 Day Circle Japan visits.  Not being too familiar with Japan,  I am not sure if the cruise ports would be all that interesting.  Thanks again!!!

You may want to consider this tour, although I don't know your port time in Ålesund, which is about 60 miles by sea from Geiranger. One option would be the fjord cruise followed by private car transfer back. You would need a reasonably lengthy stay in Ålesund to make it work. 🍺🥌
