I apologize if this has been mentioned elsewhere as I have been been searching this site for bit about it. We will be staying a few nights in HK after disembarkation and we're looking for a hotel to use close to attractions/sightseeing and nightlife. Any help would be appreciated!

Any guidance in terms of price range and modes of transportation you prefer taking?  What type of night life are you looking for: Night markets, bars, shopping/restaurants??

Generally speaking, the Tsim Sha Tsui neighbourhood where the Peninsula is located on the Kowloon mainland side and the Central neighbourhood on the Hong Kong island itself are probably the most central in terms of some/many of the tourist attractions but they are some of the most expensive areas to stay.

The MTR/metro and buses can be fairly convenient to get to get around but it can feel like a bit of a trek if you are between MTR stations.  You can also fill in the gaps with a taxi or Uber.  This can open up other neighbourhoods if you are ok commuting a bit and how adventurous you are.

Can suggest you look for a hotel either on or adjoining Nathan Road in HK.  Stayed in one on our first visit and found the area convenient for transport, walking to some sights including the night market and a couple of parks, shopping, dining, TST for the ferry and the evening light show(highly recommended BTW)   I think that if you google something like "Nathan Road HK" you will find location, descriptions and reviews of it.

So pleased were we that on two further stays we chose the same area again.  There is a broad range of pricing in that area, so whatever hotel rating and price range you are hoping for should be found.

An afterthought.

As you will be staying after leaving the ship, you would find it helpful to have the name and address of your hotel written in Mandarin to show a taxi driver. Once at the hotel take one of their business cards from reception and carry it with you.

We twice stayed over after, and once before, and on both the after ones, there were HK tourist info people at the dock organising the taxi line and writing the local language name of each hotel on a piece of paper to give to the driver. ( I don't know if they still do that) One actually gave us a beaming smile and a pat on the back for having it already written!

I would recommend you the "Harbour Grand Hong Kong", 5 stars hotel where we stayed on Victoria Island, with a great view towards Kowloon! Rooms are larger than the average. Some interesting cafes and restaurants around the hotel.

Next door to the aforesaid (and very expensive) Peninsula Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsukuba is the Salisbury Hotel. Between the star ferries terminal and Nathan Road (5 mins or less walk to either), floors 11 and upward have glorious harbour view - lower floors obstructed by the Space Museum opposite.

Location is unbeatable, 3/4 star hotel at 3-star prices.

Forget the YMCA in the name, this is a regular hotel.
