cruiseguy1016 Posted December 5, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2023 I have an unusual situation. My son has a lot of rewards points on his RCI Visa that will be expiring within the next year. He won't be able to use them before they expire. I suggested that he use them to purchase OBC for me on my upcoming cruise and then I can cash them out and give him the cash. Will this work? If I have (for example) $500 OBC from RCI Visa points, can I go to guest services and just ask for cash? I think it can be done in the casino by "playing" a slot machine and then cashing out, is that right? My cruise is already paid in full and he has more OBC points than I will use on the cruise so I'm just trying to find a way to help him not lose the cash value of the points. SAN415 Posted December 5, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 5, 2023 We normally have OBC from our card at the end of our cruises too. The amount is auto refunded back to our card as cash or money, not credits. Otherwise yes you can get the money at the casino, which we do when we have B2B cruises and want the money for the second cruise.

I wasn't even thinking of that option. I guess I could just let that happen and give my son the cash. I was just trying to think of a way to "cash out" his OBC so "cashing out" on the ship is what came to mind.

You don't even need to play, just cash out right after you transfer the OBC to the machine.
