travellgirl Posted December 12, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2023 Good morning. Did the Equinox and Constellation make it to Grand Cayman today? We are in the NCL Prima and the Captain said the island would not let us tender in this morning just curious. Wondering if it depends are where your ship is scheduled to be anchored
danceswithphones Posted December 12, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2023 Both ships are anchored near Georgetown. Looks like the Prima sailed on past GC.

Thank you. Yes, I wonder why we did not anchor. Captain said it was unsafe to send out tenders. Seems a little strange
Rare 1025cruise Posted December 12, 2023 #4 Share Posted December 12, 2023 Probably because the other ships are using the island's tenders and Prima needed to use there's. Since the island tenders are much larger, they can handle rougher water better than the ship's.
Rare VintageCheap Posted December 12, 2023 #5 Share Posted December 12, 2023 (edited) Storms in the area. On the Summit, The Captain just said on the PA to expect strong winds later on our run Key West to Bimini and hinted there may be "an update." And "the safest place is at sea." This is a hint that docks and harbors are usually not the best in storms. The pier at Bimini is IMHO based on last time exposed to seas and not in a bay. Tendering in high winds/seas is unsafe and you risk stranding passengers ashore. Edited December 12, 2023 by VintageCheap
