Malaria medication

Hello. We are heavily considering a cruise in 2025 that has a port in Roatan. But I hadn’t realized the prevalence of malaria in this area. Does everybody take the malaria drugs ahead of their cruise if this is their port? That may be a dealbreaker for us. Thanks.

We are going to Roatan in March. I’m not very concerned. We will literally be in port for 1 day - like 8 hours total. Roatan is my co-workers fave vacation spot. She goes almost yearly for scuba diving for like a week. She doesn’t worry abt Malaria for an entire vacation, so I’m not going to stress it either.

Malaria is in the mosquito population on the island. I recommend you research about the risks and symptoms to make an educated choice.

If you don't want to take the CDC's advice, use a repellent that works well with your body chemistry.
