Does anyone know which ports are tenders and which are docks? Has anyone booked their own excursions?  Thank you.

I think you will be tendered most days as the watersports platform will be available all but 1 day.  I think Raiatea would be the only place where you possible dock.

Any idea how often the tenders go back and forth?

Papeete and Raiatea - only docks.  We were on the Spirit a couple of months ago.  Taking the tenders was pretty painless - much better than having to tender on a huge cruise ship.

The tenders ran constantly - when needed.

We have not booked any excursions yet.  Tried reaching out to some third party scuba dives, but they said their boat wasn't going to be available that week.  Need to get that stuff done this week and then I think fly by the seat of our pants for a few of the islands. 

 

Is Motu Mahea the day of the beach day?

I just finished booking all our excursions.  It's getting real now!
