I know there are Ubers in Puerto Rico, but I can't find the info for St-Maarten.

 

Anyone here used a service other than the regular taxi ?

Taking an unlicensed cab is entering into potentially bandit territory.  Don’t even think about it.

 

Jintys are the shared community taxi service, used mainly by locals to get around, are safe and very reasonable ($2.00 fares etc).  There are no published timetables.

I was wondering if a taxi would be a good way to get back and forth from the port in Phillipsburg to the JW Marriott.  I hate to book in advance because it is just too hard to know when you will be able to get ashore and when we would like to leave in the afternoon.

Sounds like an excellent plan….   Plenty of licensed taxis at the official rank.

Hotels only allow registered taxis on their premises.  Plenty available for the trip back to the ship.
