Two Midwesterners escape winter on the Eurodam.

I saw it go by to my neighbor's table.  It didn't seem to have a lot of gravy.  Was it turkey breast?  I guess a lot of extra gravy would help. I have one more chance to order it, with extra gravy.

just ask…you can request all white or dark meat however they serve it with half white and half dark typically.

Will order next week if we aren't in a specialty. Looks wonderful, thanks for sharing!

Many on the books due to 5 star benefits.

Today we went to La Petit Paris for pizza and beer. I loved this place.  Mainly full of locals or VRBO visitors. On Google almost all positive reviews some people complained about slow service.  One has to be a little proactive if you aren't on Caribbean time.  We had our beers in 5 minutes.  I am sure we had the first pizza of the day so that took 30 minutes.  I enjoyed the local color.  No AC but 5g Internet.   I would go again next time in Dominica.

We are in St. Lucia today. It is rainy and the wind howled all last night.  We have nothing going on today but will take a walk onshore.  With the wind and rough seas my guess is we will not do the scenic cruising off the Pitons tonight.   Things can change though so fingers crossed.  Here is the view coming in.  We are in port with a Viking ship and a European cruise ship. Lots of white birds flying by. IMG_20240209_070847237_HDR.thumb.jpg.9824ebf7e88bdd234fcc303e1e9ccf74.jpg

Last night's dinner in Tamarind.  We talked to Charm the Sommelier and they have opened the bar for martini hour an hour early as it was very busy when we came up for dinner at 5. It is not listed as such in the Daily activities still listed martini hour 5-6.  We will head there tonight before MDR dinner for sailaway.   Yesterday we left quite a bit behind schedule.

In Tamarind we had 2 upcharge lobster items which we wouldn't order again, lobster sushi and wok seared lobster each large servings but not cutting it in the taste department.

FWIW the Sichuan shrimp dish (which can be ordered from mild to spicy) is basically the same recipe now as the wok seared lobster but without the upcharge. The shrimp are actually more tasty and tender than the lobster in most cases too.

Thanks for the tip.  Their tempura shrimp are so good too.

Today's Daily Activities.  We were thinking of going to today's movie but again strange timing.  2 hour 6 minute movie starting at 3 pm.  5 pm seating for dinner.  We hung back in the cabin hoping for the Lido to clear out but at 9:15 it was hard to find a table, we got one of the hallway ones.  Of course get out own coffee first.

The European ship is Marella Discovery, originally RCI's Splendor of the Seas.  It is one of 6 Vision Class ships, and I have sailed her twins several times,

Good morning from Bassaterre.  Another day like the last time we were here but I think the clouds will clear and we can enjoy our balcony.  We are in port with a beautiful Seaborn ship and an elderly Royal Caribbean ship.  To make up for all the cancelled shore excursions in St. Maarten and St. Lucia they have added another Jungle tour at 1pm.  I am sure there are a lot of HIA passengers that were trying to get a shorex booked after all the cancellations.  With HIA shore excursions book up quickly, often full before the ship departs.  It is always a good idea to keep watching when shore excursions are offered for future cruises.  I have booked shore excursions for Hawaii and South Pacific for February 2025 already.  I missed out on a shore excursion in Chile as the plane only carried 18 and there wasn't another available.

Here is today's Daily Activities.

Last night's dinner in the MDR. John had the Chimichurri steak and I had the Parmesan Crusted Veal with extra gravy.

We have wine package #3 as we get the 50% Mariner discount and we tried two of the Pinot Noirs from the package over the last two days. There are two offered Willamette Valley Whole Cluster and Rodney Strong.  The winner in our opinion is the WVWC.  The sommelier Rodel stopped by and he agreed.  More fruit with the Willamette Valley and better balanced acidity.  Don't know until one tries them.

Are you in Neptune 5187? We are in this room in June, how is the room? Have they put any USB ports by the bed?  We were in the Westerdam last year in the same location, there were no USB ports and very few electrical ports.
would love your opinion on that room.

We love the cabin we are in.  We are right below where yours will be.  If you will be in Alaska it will be perfect for wildlife viewing.  There are no USB ports next to the bed on my side but two on the side by the door to the deck.  The size of the balcony varies by deck.  Ours has a different layout for the dining table versus the one we had on deck 7 earlier on our trip. Very comfortable, slightly less space at end of the bed and table but has all this space between bed and closets.  Plenty of storage space. IMG_20240211_070707638.thumb.jpg.03a592c3e58c988a7f4b2e9b967a277c.jpg

Last night's dinner in the MDR.  John had the raw tuna starter, I had coconut crusted meatballs and prime rib.  John got adventurous and had the mango salmon.  He didn't really like it but salmon is never served in our house.

Catching up on some comments.  Once again when we left St. Lucia we headed directly out to sea but the last two times we had high seas.  I would still think HA is still doing the scenic cruising of Soufriere Bay we just have had bad luck.

Any one sailing on the Eurodam would be wise to bring a sweater, sweatshirt or warm wraps.  The MDR, old Lincoln Stage, casino and some bars are cold.  Men are wearing sweat shirts in the MDR, I spotted a lady wearing her winter jacket.  Don't expect any relief at the store.  Most wraps for women are thin and really only a couple of sweatshirt like garments for men in the store.

@ottahand7 If you have time, could you please post tonight's MDR menu?  Thanks!

Also, how easy is it to make specialty dining reservations if not planned out ahead of time?
