All Day In Barbados

We are going on the Sea Princess on April 8th for 14 days. One day we are going to be in Barbados until 11PM, we have been there several times but not that long. Im not sure what time we will be back on the ship prior to sailing. Question is has anyone ever been in Barbados all day and if so do you have any suggestions on night life or what there is to do besides beaches and shopping. Thanks in advance.

We have been in Barbados several times (all day) and find the island quite friendly. As to nightlife, we were not very impressed with the activities in town. On several trips we have simply rented a car for the day (its normally cheaper and more convenient than tours) and than managed to get ourselves delightfully lost on some of the poorly marked roads. The islanders are very helpful when you get lost, and always give good directions. With a car you can explore the island, go to a few beaches, etc. If you have never been to Harrison's Cave its worth the trip (you ride through the cave.,,,,no walking). We normally return to the ship in very late afternoon (we always dine late), drop the car (the car rental places are right at the pier), grab a beer or two at the friendly little bar that is outdoors at the port, and than back on-board.

Depending on cocktails consumed on this excursion the evrning may take care of itself.

Mind you princess does have an evening cat excursion which has had some good reviews. Do boatyard and shopping then evening cruise. Sounds great.

We were on the Sea Princess in December, and, although we don't generally do excursions through the ship (particularly in the Caribbean), we did two that long day in Barbados...the ATV tour (one of the funnest things we've ever done), and then the evening catamaran sail. As was just mentioned, that took care of our evening (the drinks flow very, very freely); we made it to a late dinner on the ship but that was it for the evening. I really recommend the sunset sail...it was a lot of fun, and well worth the price (if you drink).

We are also on this cruise on April 8th. There is a roll call going for this sailing on the roll call board. Lots of ideas about excursions. Come join us.

We are doing a sunset sail later in the pm. Have also been here a couple of times, but never at night.

There is a very interesting (at least to me) history museum in Barbados in what was the island jail. A few of the cells are set up as they were when in use while the rest give a very good overview of how the island was settled, crops, and history.
