SakeDad Posted January 12 #1 Share Posted January 12 We are sailing in April (Miami, Columbia, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, etc...) and I am wondering if we should have some local currency or not? We sailed London-Iceland and never needed any as most places actually encouraged use of credit cards. I can easily get some here at home before we go and our cruise line (NCL) has said they are going to stop giving foreign currency onboard. I'm also fine with taking US $1, $5 and $10 to spend locally if that is good. Thanks
Rare Essiesmom Posted January 13 #2 Share Posted January 13 All the countries on your cruise welcome US$. EM
9tee2Sea Posted January 13 #3 Share Posted January 13 if you do a private off ship tour from a vendor by the port ( not booked in advanced) they may not take credit cards, BUT they will take USD. I dont think I have ever had a problem paying a retail vendor for any items in USD, but I try to use my CC as much as possible
