We will be renting a car in Charlottetown, PEI when we visit in August aboard the Maasdam. Can we make it around the Cabot Trail? We arrived around 11:30 and need to leave by 5PM. If not, can someone suggest another route that will be scenic?

You won't be anywhere near the Cabot Trail, from Prince Edward Island, as it's on Nova Scotia, which is across the bridge and then many miles to the east. Try this link:

Yes, you are right. After I posted I realized I meant the port in Sydney, NS. We will be there from 8am to 6pm. Can we do the trip?

It takes about 6 hours to drive the trail from start to finish, with no stops and light traffic. I wouldn't suggest doing the trip.

The cabot trail is locate on Cape Breton Island, and is approx 5 hours from PEI. The person whotold you that the cabot trail is 6 hours is not from here a proper cabot trail drive at the very least is 8 to 9 hours no stops. I would suggest to you to do the bras dor lakes scenic drive Its fantasic.

bras dor lakes would be the best for you. You don't have time to do the Cabot trial, besides you wouldn't want to rush it, the trail is something you should take your time with, tons of sights and camping to do.

 

I think if memory serves me correctly bras dor lakes are about 60 to 90 min outside of Sydney
