tcapps589 Posted January 25 #1 Share Posted January 25 Finishing up a Viking Cruise in Venice at Chioggia port on March 30th. Viking lists the docking address as VIA ISOLA SALONI, which I see on the map. My question is....where do I tell taxi transfers where to meet them?? Is there any central meeting place/cruise terminal, etc ?? And any reputable transfer companies names would be appreciated. PS, I would schedule through Viking but they gave me a window for picking transfer to Venice from 0300-0830 the day of disembarking. Therefore, will schedule my own transfer back to Venice (to catch a train to Milan/fly back to USA)
euro cruiser Posted January 25 #2 Share Posted January 25 Isn't that pretty much the entire disembarkation timing? How much later would you want a transfer, and where would you wait if Viking insists everyone get off?
tcapps589 Posted January 26 Author #3 Share Posted January 26 I didn't want to use Viking Transfer because I didn't want them to tell us to be ready for transfer at 0200am in the morning. Am thinking any transfer company will see the Viking Ship (Mars) and be available in area. Plus will give both telephone numbers and emails. Thanks for posting
sarch99 Posted February 8 #4 Share Posted February 8 Curious why you want to go back to Venice to get the train. You can get a train to Milan from Chioggia.

No...the disembarkation timing is "Be off the ship at about 0800.....not 0300 a.m. in the morning.

Yes, you can go thru Padua, change trains and it all takes about 4 hours....this seemed easier (and we're familiar with Venice train station.....An hour up to Venice, get on the high speed to Milan which takes 2+45.

mapleleaves Posted February 8 #8 Share Posted February 8 You can email RadioTaxi for an estimate to go from Chioggia to Mestre train station. ( I assume you want Venice Mestre not Venice S Lucia) Taxi Venice and Mestre: Cooperativa Radiotaxi in Venice, the main authorized taxis (radiotaxivenezia.com)

Most ships (in the past) will let you sit and lounge (out of the way) in a public area on this ship, until your taxi/transportation arrives. This is our first time docking here. In the future, we'll know all the angles.

After I saw your comment, I read briefly that the station is somewhat of a micro station and the trains, if they show up, are old. I don't know if this is a viable option for you, but this is a taxi driver I've used before. He was very reasonable and reliable.
euro cruiser Posted February 10 #12 Share Posted February 10 Many of the runs right now are substituting buses for the first leg, from Chioggia, but there are still some trains departing. You might consider getting a taxi to Padua, from there you can get a direct train to Milan and won't have to worry about making a change.
