Holland America Waitlist /anyone have success?

I am waitlisted for a departure in one week and still haven’t heard if I’m on it. Has anyone had any luck with this?  I live near the port and thought I would try this but now I’m wondering if it’s just not a money grab for Holland America to hold your money. It’ll be interesting if I don’t get on the ship to see how long it takes them to give me back my full payment which was the $49 a day plus port fees and taxes in total $548.

I guess I will call them Monday to verify statusThe instructions stated that it is approximately one week notice. I wonder if they wait till two days before. Has anybody ever done this? I would appreciate some input or information. Thank you.
