Carnival Luminosa/Tracy Arm Fjord

It can go either way.

Tracy Arm is usually missed early in the season but I missed it on a July 4th cruise. Expect either. Every season can be different, every day can be different.

Big ships can’t get up to see the glacier if there is ice in the fjord, which there usually is.  This has been true for at least the last 10 years.  The problem is that there are three glaciers in SE Alaska (not counting Glacier Bay which is restricted to two cruise ships a day) and a lot more ships that want to go see glaciers.  Hubbard is further away and used mostly by cruises doing one-ways, so that leaves Tracy and Endicott.  Not that Tracy Arm isn’t beautiful.  It’s one of my favorite places in a smaller ship, but a bigger cruise ship is not likely to see the glacier at the end.

I completely agree. It is amazing in a small ship. The large ships don't seem to get close enough.

I’ve read that often this route is cancelled due to weather and the ship goes to Endicott Arm.  Would going in July make it more likely to cruise Tracy?  Or should we assume we are going to Endicott?

Because of the twists and turns, it is often missed. Endicott Arm is much easier to get to the face of the glacier.

Would Carnival Luminosa be likely to be able to make this stop in mid-August (reading that July may be iffy)...

More likely than May. August probably has the best potential for it though anything can happen.
