Ponta Delgada - Town Only?

Recommended Posts

Our stop in Ponta Delgada is from 8am-3pm on a Sunday. I realize many shops will be closed.

We would like to tour the town as reviews here have been positive. Given that, is there really time to take a tour? If we do take a tour, I am looking at a private one that includes Sete Cidades Lake & village (and runs about 4 hours - leaving 2 hours to tour Ponta Delgada)

I was just in Ponta Delgada on a Sunday last October. The island was stunningly beautiful. I highly recommend taking a tour like the one you name that gives you the opportunity to get outside the town and see some of the natural beauty of the island. I think having two hours to explore the town is fine on a Sunday. You are correct that not much will be open.
