Live from Odyssey to Harmony Feb 10-25, 2024 🚢🥳🍾🌊🏝️🐚☀️

Recommended Posts

I’ve been avoiding this topic but I just can’t anymore. I feel I have no choice to address it. The topic has bern forced on me repeatedly this week and I can’t ignore it any longer. I didn’t notice this on Odyssey. It might be a Texas thing? The swingers are out in full force. I thought I was getting on a family cruise instead it’s a bunch of folks pimping out their partners. When did this become a mainstream thing? I guess I live in a bubble. Steer clear of the pineapples folks that ain’t innocent fruit.

Wolf’s dog is doing better than apparently Dupable would like. She declared this her 3rd serving of steak and her last.  I’m not sure what this woman has against children and puppies.

I’ve spent most of the afternoon in the Solarium. I did try to get a chair on the pool deck and there were plenty. They have them so close together I decided not to embarrass myself trying to get in one. I’m old and fat so I require a side entrance. The solarium is fine if you enjoy elevator music. It was the same stuff they played while I was getting my massage. I’m not sure what the purpose of this thing is. Seems like a waste of space. A pool would have looked really nice in that spot.

A place for adults that don't want the chaos of the main pools and loungers that aren't crammed together.  Your concern.

I was talking about the area with the leaf’s over it. Didn’t mean the actual solarium itself.

Just commenting on what you actually said, "I’ve spent most of the afternoon in the Solarium".

I get it. Not picking a fight. Just clarifying what I meant. Have a nice day!

@scubaslayer as requested. Sorry it took so long. I had to drag my ass to guest services to get it. Struggled with the pic. Let me know if you need me to take another one.

Thank you!!! I now have more planning to work on, after a work day from hell. Only 105 days until my vacation begins.

I MUST find your other reviews!!!  Help me find them!!  You have me cackling.

First - egads, no the swinger thing is NOT a Texas thing.  We sailed out of PC years back and there was one boarding our ship after us - they chartered the entire ship.  OH MY - the stories our cabin steward told us!  YIKES

Yeah, we have done Harmony twice but Voyager and Freedom class are our faves.  Although we do love Coastal Kitchen.....The lack of a pool in the Solarium is such a boneheaded design decision.  Fie on those responsible!

I hope Wolf's sweet doggie keeps up the good work.  I lost my beloved Taquito a few weeks ago.  He had the same coloring and masking.  We still have Taco and Tamale to continue as chi parents.  Yes - we had a theme with the names.  Don't judge me.

I did well in the casino on Harmony last December.  Wheel of Fortune was consistently generous and let me play.  I hope it treats you well.

Now...about those other reviews......

I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it. Unfortunately I’ve only done one other review and it was dull. All I did was take pics of food and drinks. I wouldn’t advise wasting your precious life minutes reading it.

We are in Costa Maya today. I was supposed to do ATV this morning but I’m way too hungover for that. Honestly I was afraid I’d be in need of a toilet and not be able to get to one. It is already noon and I haven’t had any liquor yet if that is any indication of how crappy I feel. I decided to stay with Wolf. We got off the ship and had lunch. I think there is just two restaurants at the port. We did flavor of Mexico. Wolf really enjoyed the snapper. Mine was just okay. It was very pricey.

The port is nice but extremely crowded. Lots of large ships.

Things are getting a little hairy around here. By things I mean my legs. I tossed our room this morning looking for my razors and can’t find them. Wolf thinks they got left behind in Galveston during our mad dash to the shuttle. I’m not happy about this.

I don’t usually call folks out but some people just push the limits. We have a guy on this cruise that is just well let’s say high maintenance. His discretions? Let me list them for you.

1. He answers his phone at the tables. Even when repeatedly being told not to.

2. He constantly changes in his chips. Like every single hand.

3. He convinced someone to use their drink package to try to buy him a drink. Failed.

4. He harassed the bartender at a closed bar to give him water until the guy gave in.

5. He repeatedly tried and had issues withdrawing cash in the casino from his onboard cash account.

6. He told a dealer he really wanted to tip him but would probably default to filling out a comment card. I doubt he actually will.

7. Went on and on about how his dark sunglasses are prescription so he gets to wear them in the casino.

8. After all these indiscretions he attempted to sit next to me in an empty bar. Failed.

We decided we wanted something different for dinner last night. We skipped our chops reservation and headed to Vintages. This was another Harmony disappointment. Our prior experiences they had different small plate offerings (Tapa’s). On Harmony it is just the Jaimie’s appetizers. The only difference was we had to pay for them.

We have made it to Cozumel. We have the helmet dive excursion booked for today. Wolf text me last night saying he was sick. He was asleep by the time I got to the room and he didn’t get up again. Hopefully he is okay and we will proceed. I don’t know what my deal is with times this week. I thought our excursion was at 7:30. I was up early for this only to realize when I went to wake Wolf that it was really a 9:30 excursion.

We are now 0 for 2 on excursions. Wolf has the room blacked out and is trying to fight off a migraine. He also says his throat hurts. Hopefully it is a migraine that will pass and not Covid. Looks like I’ll be enjoying another day on the ship. I’ll probably go out and walk around the port a little bit later.

Sometime prior to boarding Odyssey Wolf broke his sunglasses. Last week I saw some that he would like and suggested he go buy them. He couldn’t be bothered at that time. He now wants to exit his blacked out room so guess who gets sent into port to secure him some glasses?

I step off the ship into some mist and someone comments it’s raining. I take two more steps and get dumped on. That wasn’t no rain. It was filthy water from them cleaning the balconies above. Lovely.

Mr. High maintenance paid me another visit this evening. It didn’t go well. I tried to take the high road but some people think things should be how they want them to be. Well I’m not a crew member and I can do as I wish. I just pulled my money back when he sat down. No problem I’ll just let him do his thing. I’m in no hurry. He didn’t like that. He declared he didn’t want to play the table if I wasn’t playing with him. I’m not one to mince words. I informed him I wouldn’t ever be playing with him. I felt bad for the dealer. I realize they’d prefer everyone get along. He then proceeded to tell me I needed to let him know why. Well I don’t need to explain myself to anybody. I’m on vacation.

He unfortunately didn’t stop there. He tried to ask me after that about strategy. Well I wasn’t having it. If you can’t be nice to the crew I ain’t gonna be nice to you. I informed him I have zero interest in speaking to him. He didn’t like that. He gambled most of his remaining funds then stormed off saying he’d keep playing if I wasn’t sitting there. Again, I wasn’t playing at the table while he was there. I simply sat and let him do his thing.

Good for you, @Denversail!  The dealer was probably glad to see him gone, too.

We are back in Galveston. I’m having my final breakfast on the ship. Obviously the last few days have been uneventful. Wolf has been sick the last few days. He has only left his room for feedings. I’ve rotated between reading my book, laying in the solarium, and the casino.

They started letting self assist off about 7:35. The dining room is packed this morning. Not looking forward to fighting the crowds trying to find our shuttle. Then the long ride to the airport. Our flight is a little early at 12:30 so fingers crossed.

I don’t have much to add that I haven’t already mentioned. I obviously enjoyed Odyssey more than Harmony. I liked the crew more, the food, and the ship.
