aussiegirl Posted February 14 #1 Share Posted February 14 I just read a news report that the passengers on the Norwegian Star were notified after they had boarded this ship that the Antarctic portion of their cruise had been eliminated. Needless to say, the passengers were not happy. I'm sure we have all dealt with missed ports on cruises, but I'll bet that 100% of the passengers on this cruise booked it for the Antarctic experience, not the ports around South America. The cruise line will invoke its right to amend the itinerary, but expect to see lawsuits and bad press.

And NCL isn't the only line affected by this, so I doubt you'll see much press. Anyway, it's covered in the other thread.
bortman23 Posted February 14 #4 Share Posted February 14 Technically it's still going to Antarctica (from what I've read). It's now going to Elephant Island, which is not the area they were originally supposed to visit, but it is 100% part of Antarctica.

Rare laudergayle Posted February 14 #6 Share Posted February 14 Story on GMA basically says it happened, it can happen, and it will happen again across all cruise lines. They said if you choose to cruise, read your cruise contract and be open to unexpected change. They also showed a MSC cruise that diverted from Bahamas to Canada. It wasn’t really a big dig on NCL.
