We are traveling with another couple so we are getting together soon to discuss options. It will be between Silversea and Paul Gauguin. We need to decide soon because it is "only" a little over a year out. I watched a video by Gary Bembridge, Tips for Travelers, who said the cruise companies are forecasting record capacity in 2024. Dolebludger Posted March 7 #28 Share Posted March 7 We have cruised in French Polynesia in our winter (their summer) on the Paul Gauguin. These were cruises were in the ”20 years ago”range. There was only a little rain and no rough weather — then. Now, it is undisputed that weather in FP during their summer is bad — big time. I guess climate change is real, at least in FP. NanJ0508 Posted March 7 Author #29 Share Posted March 7 Yep, and I think El Nino contributed to the bad weather this year.

Dirtygerty Posted March 12 #31 Share Posted March 12 We were onboard Navigator 17 Feb to 4 March 2024, Papeete to Auckland, weather was absolutely perfect as was the weather for our 3 days pre cruise at the intercontinental Tahiti.
Rare pappy1022 Posted March 12 #32 Share Posted March 12 Awesome for you. You beat the odds. Just prior to your dates there were 2 cyclones that hit the area. Maybe they used up all the energy in the atmosphere.
