AAR cabins on the American Riverboat series ships

Recommended Posts

Has anyone cruised on one of the American Riverboats in the AAR cabins? Looks like there are 6, three on each side of the ship, on the first deck. The description says they are 275 sq ft compared to the 2nd deck where cabins are 300 sq ft. The cabin size increases as you go higher, but so does the price.

Have not been in AAR, but have in the equivalent (i.e., cheapest) category on American Star.  We did not find the cabin to be claustrophobic; it was fine.  I see in the website pictures that there is a glass door to the balcony (vs full-length sliding glass).  But to me this is not a minus, but actually a plus - those sliding glass doors take a lot of effort to open.

But we did encounter one drawback - on the lower deck there can be a lot of coming and going in that corridor.  The crew uses it when they load, and with doors propped open on both ends it often is breezy there.

While we have stayed on the 4th deck on The Melody and the 3rd deck on The American Eagle, I can say that the lower deck, one and two are highly traveled.  There is the laundry room and the fitness room on these decks.  Also, hallway traffic to the laundry for the staff is on the lower decks.  I've peaked into these lower deck cabins and they are a lot smaller than the 3rd and 4th decks of the ships we have been on.  BUT!  If you are traveling to enjoy everything else but your cabin and you don't mind the square footage, then go for it.  Whatever your choice, I hope you love ACL as much as we do.
