Vista deck 10 PH3 cabins

Are there any issues with the PH3 cabins on deck 10 of Vista?  Those cabins are just forward of the front elevators.  Those PH3 cabins seem well situated, so I'm wondering why they are PH3 and not PH2.  The reason I am suspicious is because on deck 9, the A2 cabins extend from mid-ship to past the front elevators, and on deck 8 the B1 cabins extend similarly.  So why on deck 10 does the cabin category go down just past the front elevators?  Are there crew working rooms on the inside along that hallway that make them noisier, or some other adverse condition?   I think there is a laundry room on the port side, but would that affect the starboard side?

We have been on Marina and Riviera and Vista forward of the elevators and there were no issues for us.  My guess is that it is an issue of there has to be a place for PH 2 and 3’s to end and start. 3’s are for those PH’s farthest forward and aft. If you do not have any issues with the motion of the ocean, just enjoy a few hundred dollar savings and enjoy your cruise. We certainly did not.

"We certainly did not".  Hopefully that refers to you not having issues with the motion of the ocean rather than not enjoying the savings and cruise. 😮

 

As for ship motion, I have generally stayed mid-ship just because that is where my TA has recommended.  I have experienced side-to-side motion before on cruises, which has not bothered me.  So I'm guessing that forward-backward motion might not be an issue.  Looking at the full length of the ship, though, I think those PH3 cabins are actually on the border between mid-ship and fore.  So probably okay.  Thanks for the reply to my question.

Misspoke a bit.  We had no problem with the PH-3 stateroom and it really turned into a great location.  Pop up to the Lounge, Artists Loft, Horizons, Spa, and an easy walk to the upper deck and a breathe of fresh air on my way to Baristas. Best thing since it is forward of the elevator, there is virtually no people traffic and the only ones who walk bye are those even closer to the front of Deck 10.

There are 3 modes of ship motion:

• Rocking side-to-side.  "Stabilizers" help.  Low helps, forward/aft doesn't matter.

• Pitching bow/stern up/down.  "Stabilizers" don't help.  Low doesn't matter.  Midships helps*.

• Judder as bow digs in, ship slows then resumes speed.  Nothing helps.

 

* Been right forward in 25' seas and swells.  We went up/down 20-ish feet.  Whee!  😉

@mauibabes or anyone else familiar with Vista:

I am debating between PH3 cabins 10034 and 10032 on deck 10 port side just forward of the front elevators.  (The starboard PH3 cabins are already taken.)  Any recommendation between the two?  I am wondering if 10034 is too close to the elevators for noise (is there really a lot of noise or is it not very noticeable?), but also wondering if 10032 is too close to the laundry room.  Are there interior crew doors across from either?   Thanks for any insights.

34 has a sofa bed couch so a bit firm as opposed to a regular couch in 32. Don’t worry about elevator stairway noise, never an issue.  Not sure about any staff doors, maybe someone on board now can verify this.

So did your TA come through and was 10032 still available?  We have lost a lot of desireable rooms by hesitating on grabbing what our gut told us was the best decision.  Once we have grabbed our PH, we can always move if a better option appears, just working closely with Rep in Miami. The old, “Bird in the Hand” trick. 
Good luck and enjoy your cruise. Our friends on Vista now are having a great time.  She sent pictures of an empty Barista’s yesterday afternoon and was wondering if people just did not venture upstairs after boarding, even to just hang out awaiting their rooms, or perhaps even a ship walk about.  I do love my time sitting and chatting in Vista’s Barista’s, they did a great job including the Bakery.

We are currently in PH3 10087 on  Vista. Love the location. Close to aft elevators. Love the cabin. We had a guarantee and were assigned this cabin a month ago.  Might be one to consider. Everything is a short walk on this ship.

We took 10034, which is a bit closer to the elevator but also a bit further from the laundry.  You mentioned that the couch in that cabin is a sofa bed and hence a bit firmer.  I don't think that would be a problem.

 

I am definitely looking forward to going to Barista's to get my coffee and have a sit watching the views.

Glad you are happy with that cabin.  I had considered those aft PH3's but was thinking they might be noisier than the fore cabins.

I agree their location looks good.  Interesting, though, that you were assigned it from a guaranteed cabin rate.  I had thought that the less desirable cabins were allocated to the guaranteed assignments.  But it sounds like you don't think it is less desirable.

Our rate was the same as PH3. No cabins for PH3 at the time of booking so had to take it guarantee. Guarantee is right before it goes to wait list.

@ppanyan, when are you sailing?

We’re booked in 10034 in July. 
Will post a review, but if you’re sailing before that , I would appreciate some feedback.

Forward cabins are very quiet and don’t feel much vibration. Not much foot traffic in the hallway. You will have a longer walk to the GDR, Terrace Buffet, Waves, Library, or Baristas.  You will be closer to the theater lounge.  I have had cabins in many locations on a variety of ships.  There are some cabin locations that I avoid: stern cabins have vibration, cabins above or below bars, casinos, pools, or restaurants, bow cabins may get noisy if they drop anchor, and some connecting cabins.
