blackfly Posted June 28 #26 Share Posted June 28 How about multiple cruise ships on the same day. We will be on Celebrity Silhouette next July. When it arrives in Isafjordur there will be two other ships there as well, Ocean Sirena and ms Zuiderdam, total passenger capacity 6000. Can the port handle three ships at the same time. Can they all dock or will tendering be required.
Capt_BJ Posted July 2 #27 Share Posted July 2 (edited) we visited last July on a Viking Ocean ship and they were still working on the pier ... but as you can see even with the extension it is not terribly long .... note that VO ships are short compared to most. Here's what I saw .... and from this I'd say the extended pier is around 1200 feet . . . On MarineTraffic I have seen and posted that PRIMA has been pierside already this year. BUT do the math ... 3 ships, add their lengths .... almost certainly SOMEONE is tendering . . update <the port web site says the project was to provide 500 meters of dock> Edited July 2 by Capt_BJ
citruscruiser Posted August 2 #28 Share Posted August 2 I was there 3 weeks on the Celebrity Apex (3000 passenger). We docked at the new dock. There were 2 other ships, Windstar could have been one, and docked. The third was tendering.
