ArizonaStorm Posted March 23 #11 Share Posted March 23 Sometimes I think I'm a fairly good photographer -- until I see photos like these. It takes a keen eye to really see the photo-worthiness of random objects. Professional equipment is helpful, but such tools are wasted in the hands of someone with limited imagination. If I had a hat I would tip it in your general direction.

Good hear certainly helps but a lot of what I showed here was shot with a very good, fixed focal length (28mm) point and shoot camera (Ricoh GRIII). I've only been "seriously" shooting since 2016. You can learn a lot on YouTube. My best advice, learn some of the basic rules of photography so you can break them and find things to photograph that interest you, not where all the tourists go. With that said, there's nothing wrong with touristy photo spots but it's hard to make something standout when you're fighting for time and positioning. Good luck in the future don't be afraid to experiment.

With that said, it’s also a part of life that I don’t think we should pretend isn’t happening around us, especially when we’re visiting places that are often beautiful on the surface near the tourist hotspots. Over the years I’ve taken a few other similar shots that I’ve tried to frame in a similar way. Below are examples from Martinique and Chicago.
