Train from Seward to Anchorage airport - Celebrity cruise transfer

Celebrity offers a post-cruise transfer to the airport by train. But it does not specify which type of train it will be. I have called Celebrity and they don't seem to know neither. From my research, the cruise lines have chartered Alaska Railroad to runs early in the morning on disembarkation day and go directly to the airport.

 

I'm trying to find out what kind of railcars it will be. Will it be the same one that they use for the scenic train with the glass dome railcars, or will it be a totally different train all together?

Alaska Railroad does have a later train scheduled at 6PM, but I'd prefer to book one from the cruise since it means I'd get to Anchorage earlier. TIA.

Actually, the ARR early evening train will offer two levels of service —Adventure and Goldstar.  If Goldstar is extremely important to you than you may want to take that 6 PM train.  There is much to do in Seward for the day.

Great fun. Narrow gage RR although we went the other way!

It’s actually a standard gauge railway as it was converted many years ago to allow for standard freight cars.
