dalmoradie Posted March 30 #1 Share Posted March 30 My husband and I are booked on an Alaska Cruise on the Solstice in June. We are wondering if it's worth it to purchase the 2-device Premium wifi package. How's the signal? is it worth the $39,99/day price? My husband dabbles in crypto trading and he needs a reliable signal. We would hate to pay that much and not be able to get a good connection anyway. Bateau_de_croisiere Posted March 30 #2 Share Posted March 30 It looks like your ship features Starlink, so I believe you'll be fine. Some folks buy portable travel routers and share a 1-device Wi-Fi plan between multiple gadgets. See Starlink reference at the bottom of the page https://www.celebritycruises.com/cruise-ships/celebrity-solstice $34 on Amazon https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-sft1200/
Rare Jim_Iain Posted March 30 #3 Share Posted March 30 Since the introduction of Starlink signals are pretty consistent. Speeds are throttled at about 5 download and 2.5 Up. It is enough I can stream Netflix without stuttering. I use to be a day trader and the platform I used really didn't need a lot of bandwidth. Having said that - there are always chances of dead spots. Numerous times I've lost connectivity on the ship while in port. In those cases I've turned on my phones mobile data and turned on hot spot.
