Ovation of the Seas May 9'th Vancouver Alaska Checkin time question

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Looking forward to doing this cruise. This is our first cruise out  of Vancouver. I have a question about checkin time. On our Booking Confirmation document from Royal it states that checkin time is between 12:15 pm - 4:15 pm with departure set for 5:45 pm. However when the checkin times opened up on the app last week we got the earliest time available which was 10:00 am. We are staying at the Pan Pacific so we can easily make either time. Just wondering which time is the correct one and what time we should head down to the terminal? If we go for 10 and it's actually 12:15 I guess we will be waiting around for 2 hours which I'd rather not do.  Any info will be appreciated.

We are cruising from Vancouver in 2025 and I'm just starting to look into things. From what I have read there are two sets of customs to clear and it can be extremely busy so if you have got 10am, which I would imagine is the first time slot, you have done well.

The Pan Pacific hotel you mention looks great, that's the hotel we are planning on staying at.

When we sailed out of Vancouver last May, our check in was 10 am and it was fairly quick. We waited a bit in a waiting room after going through all the gates but they were also loading 3 different ships. We were on the boat  by 10:45

We stayed at the Pan Pacific last year.  Also had a 1 pm ship checkin time.  Called the hotel porters for cruise ship luggage service around 9:30. They picked up the luggage and said to just go and checkin.  Went through checkin around 10:30 and then straight onto the ship. No ever asked about checkin time. Pan Pacific was pretty nice, easy walk to the Steam Clock in Old Town and a $6 dollar taxi from the hotel to Granville Island.

Thanks for the replies. It's good to hear that you got a 10 am checkin time and were on the ship so quickly. I had heard that the checkin process can be much slower then what we are used to from NJ or Florida because the cruise building is shared by whichever ships are in port. I believe there is 1 other ship with us that day. When I reviewed my cruise document and it said that checkin didn't start till 12:45 I assumed they stagger the checkin times with the other ship. But with a 10 am time reserved I'll assume that's when we are expected to be there. I love getting on the ship early.

As a suggestion, leave your bags at the pan pacific and they will send them to the ship.  Make sure you attach your luggage tags.  Also depending on how many ships are in port customs can be a nightmare so either do10 am or later in the afternoon.  It took us over an hour in line to get through when we went at noon.

We are also on this cruise and got a 10am check in time. We are staying at Red Rock Casino the night before as we are not wheels down until 9:30 pm. So I opted for the longer ride in the morning as opposed to 11pm having just spent 5.5 hours on a plane from Newark. But I would love to stay at Pan Pacific sometime.

See you onboard!

We are on the ship coming from Honolulu, and are docking at 3am, so 10 am check in is great.  We have boarded in Vancouver and it is easy, drop the bags and head upstairs to check in.  For pan pacific I think they took care of the bags for u , but it has been a while so check with hotel concierge
